COURSE UNITS: YEAR 1 Unit 01: Communication and Employability Skills for IT; Unit 02: Computer Systems; Unit 03: Information Systems; Unit 06: Software Design and Development; Unit 07: Organisational Systems Security; Unit 09: Computer Networks; Unit 28: Website Production; Unit 30: Digital Graphics; Unit 42: Spreadsheet Modelling. YEAR 2 Unit 04: Impact of the use of I.T. on Business Systems; Unit 05: Managing Networks; Unit 11: Systems Analysis and Design; Unit 12: IT Technical Support; Unit 13: IT Systems, Troubleshooting and Repair; Unit 14: Event Driven Programming; Unit 18: Database Design; Unit 23: Human Computer Interaction; Unit 29: Installing and Upgrading Software. This course has been designed for students to gain the abilities and knowledge to succeed in the I.T. sector or further education. You will learn about computers and their use and importance in modern communication technology.

Classroom-based working on computers. COURSE HIGHLIGHTS: Explore and experiment with different types of networks and the standards relating to network systems, including local and wide area networks in a well-equipped Lab. We offer work experience with well-known companies such as BT, Barclays Bank PLC & Transport for London.

Assessment will be carried out internally by teaching staff and the grades will then be sent to Edexcel for moderation. Some units will be assessed through externally assessed examination.

Many students from SFX go on to do degrees in subjects such as Computing, Engineering, IT, Business, Multimedia and Networks Technology. Others have chosen to take up employment in these fields and have received further training whilst at work.
